In recent years, Rome has become an important laboratory for urban transformation and regeneration, thanks to the extensive collaboration between the Holy See, the Italian Government, regional and city institutions, developed in preparation for the 2025 Catholic Jubilee and supported by investments from major public and private stakeholders.
Urban regeneration initiatives, redesigned public spaces, architecture projects, restorations, parks and infrastructure testify to a significant transformation that renews the image of the city—beyond its historical heritage—looking toward the present and the future.
Historically, Jubilees have always triggered major transformations in Rome’s urban form and spaces.
This exhibition is dedicated to projects created across the metropolitan area for the Jubilee, intended to remain as a lasting legacy for the city and its inhabitants.
A series of public spaces that, through their design quality and social awareness, significantly improve the life of the city and its communities. The exhibition project, developed for the inauguration of the new Urban Center of the Metropolitan City of Rome, presents—through the lens of photographer Flavia Rossi—ten selected interventions that will become part of the city’s heritage. These ten micro-stories of architecture and communities are accompanied by graphic and textual materials and a map showing all Jubilee-related interventions across Rome. A broader selection of 26 projects is presented through a looping photographic installation. Images and in-depth texts will form the exhibition catalogue, published by Forma Edizioni. The aim is to portray Rome as a laboratory of the contemporary, highlighting the profound changes reshaping the city and its determination to address the major social and environmental challenges of the new millennium.
